Youth Camp 2009: So Much More
Hi guys I'm back from camp. Let me just say that it was absolutely awesome.
My team was The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen And A Few Women. Or T.L.O.E.G.A(squared).F.W., consisting of Ben and Russell as leaders, Hannah, Jonathan Ang, Joshua Lim, Randy, Ivan, Estella, Janice and me. Fyi it's the 4th time I'm in the same group as Ben K.. Talk about coincidence.
The speaker and his sermons were really inspiring and interactive, which is good since it is quite hard to involve the audience when Amos preaches in the chapel.
Campers felt the games were fun, or in order words we covered up real well. And yes, we shall be the pioneers of the mentoring system. Thanks to Laura and Ben and Jasmine and Cheryl for sharing their honest views and opinions!
Worship was fantabulous, really thought-evoking and reflective. Haha gosh I cried on the second night.
Sad, I missed the food race and missed drinking apple juice from 5 straws connected together and missed trying goat's tongue. But we passed pioneer! When I came back to camp, stayed in the dorms with Selena and Janice and Yunsil. The time Yunsil takes to write 9 letters is the time Selena takes to write 2 and for me to write one. Haha oh and we laughed and laughed and laughed a lot. It was mostly Selena laughing at me and I laughed because Selena laughed and we both laughed extra hard at Yunsil's funny stories. Oh my it was so good.
Finale night was.... one word, excellent. Hehe it's nice having both Russell and Joshua in the same group. And gosh Ivan is the most "onzz" camper ever met. Wore the life jacket in Chinese Auction, became a model and wore the empty half-watermelon even before Brenda had finished her sentence during Finale Night. Man, it was good. We had oreos and cookies for the auction, since Russell was too enthu about it all. But the cookies were good and we all had fun and that's what matters most.
Stayed up at night until 6am, slept til 8am. Haha playing Werewolf kills time very easily, 3 games and almost 3 hours was over. Got tired of it and went to walk around. As I walked along the dorms corridor Jonas and Dom passed me Ben's letter and 'translated' it for me. Then Laura came along and the four of us had a good long meaningful heart-to-heart talk. But hehe Jonas didn't really get much that we said since mostly she didn't listen or didn't understand our code. Heehee. Told Laura about who I would choose in 'The Game', and haha most unexpected Laura smiled, nodded and said, "Good choice, good choice." It's really nice to talk to Laura, since she's really approachable and I found it easy to ask her things I normally feel awkward to ask and surprisingly she was in the same situation too. Thanks for what you said, Laura! "It's a gift from God, treasure it." -sigh- After a while Laura and Dom left and others came in, then we dispersed so I headed down to the canteen and kinda stoned there. Daniel, Cheryl, Laura and Junhong were playing Bridge, but after a while Cheryl left so Laura asked me to play. Gosh it was fun but scary playing with three much-better players. Played 2 rounds, partnered Laura in the first and Daniel in the second. Hehe didn't recognise my partners until they made a friendly comment, totally forgot what the card called was. But it was good to play Bridge again. :D Went to sleep after listening to the convo regarding "The Game" and fell asleep.
Day 4 was good, fun too. Really worn out now but it's nice that my group won first for the food race, being the only once who did this bonus station. Yeah man I'm looking forward to next year!
