ODAC X-BLAZE @ PULAU UBIN

X-Blaze was AWESOME. How awesome? FREAKING AWESOME.

LOL hahaha. But yeah it was really great, camping in the forest, a 15 mins solo night walk, walking a grand total of 20 km, sleeping alone in barshas (emergency shelters), eating half-cooked food, huddling together like emo kids in our flooded tents and coming home with sun-burnt faces.

DOTA, Daylight Orienteering on Day 2 was really fun. Our group walked really fast, with Simin Chen Hao Xiuyun in front and Indah and I just behind. Haha Grace and Junhui were always lagging and had to run to catch up. Junhui said during our end-of-camp debrief that for every 4 steps we took, they took 3 steps. It was non-stop walking from around 830 to 1300, but we came in first so we finished at 1130. Along the way we sang the school song and other songs, said house cheers and group cheers and practiced for campfire. During the debrief Ben came over and he had cycled past us once and said that we were really enthu and were walking very fast. :)

Night 1 was so nice, we had our solo night walk. The seniors creeped us out beforehand by telling us stories while waiting for it to get dark. I was the 5th to leave, Dawn was before me and Kaifeng behind. Chen Hao was the first and it was still bright when he left. The first seniors stationed along the road played music and tried to follow me. Jeffrey and friend set up an illuminated red scream mask which made me jump a little upon getting a clearer look. I think someone was in the forest stepping on branches.

At the end, the seniors led us to a tree and left us to pitch our barsha. There were lots of people in my area, Joanna was next to me. Her groundsheet was tiny so Joel a J2 helped her pitch a two-tree barsha. But we were so near, I didn't have space to peg one corner so my barsha was a curve. There were quite a few tiny trees bordering my barsha so I said sorry to each of them beforehand in case I unknowingly broke them. We weren't supposed to talk but we did anyway and I helped Zhi Hao, who was in one corner to himself, pitch his barsha. It was around 25 degrees in temperature, and we were lucky since last year it was sweltering. Haha I was super comfortable and only woke up twice, at 0240 and 0500. We were woken up at 0510 by the seniors using whistles. Oh yeah I carried my Guides whistle, Amanda too. :)

Night 2 was campfire. The night sky was BEAUTIFUL. Not a cloud in the sky, no light pollution. The half moon was so bright and you could see the orion belt very clearly. The stars were so brilliant that you couldn't tell which was the north star at all! I totally don't mind going Pulau Ubin just for the stars.

When we were setting off from Muammar Beach for the jetty, I was struggling to arrange my poncho over my backpack. Then this girl's voice said, "Come I help you." I said, "Thank you! :)" A few seconds later, the voice said, "Oh my gosh so sorry! I'll buy you a new poncho!" I said, "Huh what happened?" I recognised her voice just as the kind soul said, "Haha I too short already...." Oh Xitheng haha. :D Xitheng stood beside me and said she'll buy me a new poncho and asked for my size. I kept refusing until she said, "No I MUST buy for you. I'll just get M size kay."

On Sunday, we walked 8km from Changi Jetty back to school. Xingkai said that the bus broke down, like the past 8 years. Haha before that the seniors kept dropping hints like "Aww aircon bus!" "Yay we'll be taking the bus back!" But most of us kinda guessed. Chen Hao thought they were joking, that half way through a bus would come and pick us up. Actually I didn't know until Kaifeng told us while "waiting for the bus" but I was ready for anything so I wasn't surprised.

We walked for 2 hours 15 mins exactly, taking the long route. Last year they walked very slowly so they took the shorter route. While stopping once, Sean, Xitheng and Grace held hands in that order like a happy family. They looked soooo cute! :D Since Xitheng is small with a cute face and Sean and Grace are both tall. Hahaha can't get over how cute Grace and Xitheng look when they talk to each other. xD

Shall not say everything, it would be too long. Too many events.
