Farewell Assembly 2012

Well we graduated from Meridian Junior College today. What can I say? Good times, good times. Love the people, love the teachers, love the friends, love the school.

Entered the hall in the morning, only to find neat rows of chairs and chairs, each with a graduation bear and a mug on it. So cute. I sat in between Vally and Eunice. We started with A level briefing (half of which I did not listen at all, the only exam briefing I didn't pay attention to), before moving on to the award ceremony for the leaders and then the Farewell Assembly.
The SC made two photo montages, one purely on Orientation and the second on the rest of the college events, Road Race 2011, National Day, etc. It was really nice, looking at those photos and recounting all that we did last year, all the memories flooding in. Ms Lai made a speech, first time she has made a speech for Farewell Assembly. She showed us how the bears grow in size haha. Then 3 J1s came up and performed Stronger by Kelly Clarkson (What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stand a little taller~), 1 guitar and 2 singers, it was pretty good and meaningful! AND THEN. TEACHERS' VIDEOS!!!! :D

Chem Dept did another photo montage of events from this year, which led to messages from each Chem teacher addressed to their own classes. Mr Nah said, "All the best for As and future endeavors! When you face challenges in life, keep pushing on and give it your best shot!" And not forgetting the awesome doctor, Dr Rahman, and Ms Rosalind Lim. :')
Then Maths! Maths Dept showed us short excerpts from past vids, including 08's rap, 09's Nobody (When you read your notes you must practice too~), 10's Sorry Sorry (Study study study study, AP GP MI DE~) (Mr Vincent Ng's dancing was one step behind the other guys with additional butt-shaking HAHA), then 2012's GANGNAM STYLE (Mathematics style~)
Then Physics! [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=KnzjZidrdcI ] Haha Mr Lim used his son's photos to tell his message, so cute! And he looks like Mr Timmy Ng (ODAC teacher until 2011 June, he encouraged me all the way up Ophir when I was ready to give up on myself), miss that guy manz. And Mr Goh!!! He thanked us Odacians, awwww. (((: He's naggy and irritating at times, but he's a really nice guy. So sad he broke his arm. :/ Ms Cheryl Wong looked like she was about to cry. :'(
Then Econs!! HAHAHA [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xWquYRJS5X4 ] BEST OF THE LOT. Call Me Maybe parody :D Hope this link will still be valid 10 years down the road. :) Epic Mr Hon is EPIC, classic manz haha. Bet he's super glad to get the role of eating HAHA. Last year's video he was eating too haha. Reeeeally gonna miss him. :'(( Ms Wong Mei Lin and her bell, cute Ms Halima and Ms Heng, the cute and funny Mr Glynsen Wong (who tried to draw diagrams using the touchpad 'cos his stylus stopped working).
And then GP! Well there's no video, it was a live performance. They all came on stage and sat in a row of chairs, and Mr Nathan was the teacher of the 'class'. The song was sung (or rapped) by Ms Ariel Lam and Mr Nathan and one other male teacher, haha it was quite interesting. Ayee sad Ms Koh didn't really do much, like most of the other GP tutors haha. They finished off by passing the mike around for each teacher to leave a message. It was mostly "Study hard" "Read examples" "Remember essay outlines", only the guy teacher (S111's tutor, the one who had consults in a small corner of the 2nd floor library) said "I love you", awwww so sweet.
And then!! Ms Loo Jia Ning and Ms Foo from Maths Dept sang A Thousand Years by Christina Perri, live! They changed the lyrics slightly (I will spend everyday praying for you~). Omg it was super nice, Ms Loo has a nice low voice and Ms Foo's gentle and higher voice complemented her, they took turns to be vocalist and lead. Ms Loo was from Singapore Youth Choir! So cool! And Ms Foo is the choir teacher, so it was really good. :D

We stayed in the hall for a while, 'cos Amanda was talking to her tennis friends, then we rushed to class E03-04. The class was already settled in a circle of chairs, Mrs Tan and Eleanor were trying to settle the IT problem, my old job haha (unofficial media rep like in Purity haha). First we watched the video made by Eleanor! [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwEupwRxtWU&feature=youtu.be ] Haiz if only Ethel was still with us in the class. :') And then Mr Ng came in with this stack of 6 Sarpinos Pizzas, sponsored by Mrs Tan and Mr Ng (Mrs Tan asked us what we wanted to eat 'cos she and Mr Ng really wanted to treat us to something we would like after receiving the boxes of gifts for Teachers' Day (Mrs Tan said she cried reading our letter :) awww)) Haha Mrs Tan said that she tried asking Mr Ng to join them for pizza, but he was too shy heehee. Mr Ng with all his swinging arms and clapping while waiting for us to copy down answers hahaha, good memories. :D Oh while we were silently eating our pizza, Mr Nah dropped by to collect back the metal rack he used to hold the test tubes (TEST TUBES :D plus a special crystal-growing kit gift for me as his Chem Rep), so I passed him the calculator card that we wrote for him during assembly. Geeky Mr Nah and his equally geeky rep hahaha.
Then we had the results of the nominations, the one we did two weeks ago during Chrystal. The nominees for Funniest are Eunice, Arun and Carrie (the reasons that she got from nominators were: for hilarious answers to teachers' questions such as "Actually, I don't really understand your question"). Eunice got the award!! (Y) (Haha Eunice and I nominated each other) The nominees for Most Hardworking are Qiangwei (who doesn't need to eat during breaks like Jamie, gods haha), Marshall (who always helps others understand concepts) and Valerie (who is earnest!), and Qiangwei got the award! (I voted for Marshall) His red specs hahaha, so outstanding. The nominees for Person-I-respect-the-most are Julia (who manages herself well and can balance CCA and studies (which are the reasons I gave)), Jamie (for always being calm and composed in the toughest situations) and amazingly, me (for being morally strong and always caring and willing to help others, or so the people who wrote my name says). And somehow I got the award. Now I have to live up to it. The nominees for Leader-of-the-class are Eleanor (our CG rep), Priscilla (for always asking good questions and answering questions, or so they say) and Bernice (for being a good Maths Rep and being very organized as the Treasurer). And Eleanor got the award! Lastly, the nominees for Most Disgusting are Afshin, Eunice (for burping loudly in class), Amanda (for farting in class, like May), and Afshin got the award! YESSS HAHAHA. xD Pity Arun wasn't nominated hahaha.
Then Mrs Tan gave us the cheese cake that she made for us! So sweet of her, spent so much time on it. Digestive biscuit base (Amanda's fav), then cheesecake with red Jello on top. Ate silently again. Right after Mrs Tan gave out our Prelims results slip, Mr Hon came in with an icepop hanging at his mouth by his teeth and started ransacking through the pizza boxes for leftover slices, ignoring us completely HAHA. Typical. So I passed him his En(tie)rely Awesome card and he left with his hands and mouth filled. Then Ms Tan gave us her personal messages from her, plus two ballpoint pens, one black one blue. She told us about how we should hold on to our JC friendships, and that even if we don't know where we want to go now, it's fine, and that we should go for internships if we want to take specialized courses, instead of becoming bouncers outside clubs (making her stand on clubs clear) or working at bubble tea outlets. She said that it's natural that we would want to partaye after As but please don't get into trouble. After she was done, we had this whole go-around-taking-photos-and-passing-letters thing and I passed the Baby card to Mrs Tan (under Bernice's encouragement :) ) and we all took a class photo before she left. Then, Mr Nah came back in! And Amanda and Julia started shouting and pulling at me to take a photo with Mr Nah. Omg fight or flight instinct came on, put up a bit of a fight heheh oops. Face super red too. Never been good with talking to teachers one on one unless it was about business. So we took a class photo with him. Then Ms Heng came and her class took a photo with her and we passed the Owl card to her. We had to clear the room 'cos the J1s needed it for PW and OP, just so happened to be our classroom. Teck Hui helped me to pass the Thank you card to Mr Owen Tan, and I placed Ms Koh's Butterfly card in her locker. Then I rushed down to the ODAC room.

At the staircase outside the Odac room, we took a photo with Mr Goh and his broken arm. Well not all of us were there, only those who check Whatsapp. Nice photo, Mr Goh looks slimmer in it haha. Heard that Ms Loo was talking to her class then she started crying. :'( Then Joaquin, Amanda, Xianzhi, Yonghao, Nicholas, Tracy and I stayed to talk for a while in the canteen before we left.

Good times. :))))
