Day of Friendly Coincidences and Bad News
Hahaha and yesterday (Wed) was a Day of Spills. Three spills, all happening within less than an hour.
First I spilled a cup with left-over coffee while trying to wipe the table clean of crumbs. Faz got a shock when she came out of the store area because it was the seat nearest to the store door. Heh. Around half an hour later, one of the regulars spilled his drink. Haha he said he was too excited and he was very apologetic, because he knew that I just cleared up a spillage. :X And when he left, his friend say I cannot smile at him next time, otherwise he'll spill his drink. I had no idea how to reply haha. Yeah so after that, I was rinsing the mop in the sink to clean out the coffee that was soaked up, and then the mop handle knocked over the opened bottles of caramel sauce and chocolate sauce on the opposite counter.... The caramel sauce is thick so not much flowed out. But the chocolate sauce.... There was literally a waterfall slowly dripping down to the floor, like a plunge pool on the tabletop, the top of the bar fridge AND the floor. Freak out. Manager had gone to the bookstore upstairs so it was a FASTER CLEAN BEFORE SHE GETS BACK thing. Managed to clean up the mess before she got back. BUT. Before I could top up the chocolate sauce (half the bottle spilled :( ) a customer came to enquire about ordering cakes, and just as I was about to call Faz, she came back. So yeah, no chance in hiding that. :X
Today is the first day I worked in the same shift as Adrina and Faz since last last Saturday! ^^ So nice. :))) Haha they purposely split us up after the first week because we talk too much to each other heh.
And today, I spilled something. Can't remember what. Faz couldn't believe her eyes. Don't know whether to laugh or cry hehehe.
And today, the store phone rang while Faz was busy, and I didn't dare to answer so it was a missed call. So Faz told me to try and pick up the call if she's busy. And a short while after that missed call, the phone rang again. Faz was on her phone so I answered it. The customer wanted to order a cake, asked the exact same questions as that customer who came on Wed. She said she wanted to buy a whole Black Forest cake, but we don't have that anymore, so I said we have Mocha cheese cake and Minty Choc cake. She asked if they were nice, so I said the Mocha cake is pretty popular. She asked if there's caffeine in it, and I said yes, I think so. So she said, okay thanks, I'll think about it. And then she hung up. I must have held my breath throughout the whole conversation, because after that I had to squat down hahaha. SOOO TRAUMATIZED. And then Faz came into the store, and said, "Actually, that last call was me on the other line." ......... Took a while for me to believe that hahahahaha. Haha Faz said she wanted to sound all gangster and loud but because I went over to stand on the other side of the wall, she had to lower her volume hahaha hehe. And guess what, half an hour later, the phone rang AGAIN. And Faz was busy, so I answered it. I gave the standard greeting, and the other person on the line said, "Hi this is from the office, who is the person in charge there now?" Freakkkkkkkk. "Umm.... Faz....." "Okay may I speak to her?" I RAN to Faz. Seriously, a call from someone above Rum.
But I guess I can say, that first call from Faz really broke down my fears about answering the phone. :) And she knew that that's what I needed. >.<
Oh and today, we did latte art! :D But only etching, because we just filled a cup with milk foam and no expresso. Adrina got more time to practice and play around while I was doing sampling, I only had time to do on one cup because an order came in. But Faz demonstrated quite a bit, and she did her own experimentation too. It was so fun and interesting oh gosh. :DDD I managed to do a nice flower that she taught me before Adrina came for work. (I was really early hahaha) Really need to get a good expresso and good foam texture and the right amount of foam before I can practice doing free pouring latte art.
Talked more to Faz today while I was doing sampling, since there were no new customers. Hahaha she is the coolest youngest boss and mum manz haha. She and her husband used to shout randomly on Orchard Road, "Look there's someone falling!!! :O" And other stuff I shall not say here haha. But I don't dare start on a topic with her, only because Adrina is around today so I've opened up for convos for the day.
Oh coincidences! #1, Adrina's pri and sec school friend works opposite Gloria, at RamenPlay, and she's been staring at Adri for the past week, wondering if it's her. Hahaha. #2, Adri's friend is from MJC floorball, which is why she looks soooo familiar. #3, another of Adri's friend's mum works at the jewellery shop on the OTHER side of Gloria. And that friend is trying to whoo her. Awkward~ #4, Jiayun and Samantha (Tofu) from Sec2 Unity '08 came to Katong today while I was doing sampling. Could not remember Sam's name at all, she looks soooo different, while Jiayun's still the same haha.
And bad news. Faz wouldn't be around in Katong for quite a while in the very near future, so Ceny will be the boss, which is perfectly fine. I mean, we look up to Ceny and we talk during work. Thing is, Adrina and I depend on her for that sense of security, especially me. Faz is the only person Adrina can talk sicko stuff with, cos I have no idea how to reply to them. And most of all, Hilda adores Faz because Faz is really patient and tolerant. Ceny can interact best with Hilda but she really tests her limits sometimes. And they might be sending someone over to Katong to substitute for Faz, but that person really has to be able to get used to Hilda. Not like how Fiqah is freaked out by Hilda. Hilda likes to stare at new people hahahaha. What's gonna happen for Hilda manz. :(
Sigh. No wonder Faz was urging us to chase people who anyhow sit on our premises, to keep up the standard when she's gone. At least it's not permanent. I hope.
Another bad news is Uncle Don's job. Either get posted to China, or quit his job. Maybe there's a third option, but God hasn't revealed it yet. Jonas and family are really worried.
On the good note, I've an extra off day tomorrow/today! Haha Faz just say today I take a break, while Adrina has work as per normal. That girl's been off on Tues and Wed so I get the off day. Upper management's implementing changes, tomorrow the outlet's only open from 11-8 so we can't have too much manpower around our tiny store, so one of us part-timers don't have to work. (I'm deducing) And management will be coming down too. Faz is gonna rant hahahaha.
I'm gonna so bored. :\ But now I can slowly finish up Birthdays and maybe go and find something. Good, I guess. And my right hand can rest too. Though, I still wanna work. :\
