5 Month Anniversary in Anson!

And coming to 6 months in GJC!

26/5 - 31/5
Sunday
I did closing alone at Katong again! Vinny left at 5 and Linda left at 8.30, so I got Linda to help me do pre-closing. Okay I take that back, I did most of the pre-closing. -.- All she did was tell me that I'm closing alone and that she always helps with pre-closing when she does mid-shift at Katong (which was only once before). *major facepalm* Ahh well anyways it was properly best that I did everything, because I know Faz's methods best. And looking back, if I was always meant to be an Anson staff, it's good that I started at Katong so that I can guide the Anson staff when we go to Katong. Anyways, I really could have closed by 10, but this big group of 9 came at 9.30 and right behind them were two other small orders, so by the time I finished clearing all orders it was 9.50. Zzzz. Doesn't help that there was a Minty Lychee, a Longan Strawberry and a less sweet Longan Strawberry, so I had to make all 3 cups separately. All that measuring of liquids and clearing up in between drinks. Sigh. Went home at 11.15 again.

Monday
I was supposed to do mid-shift but Vinny is having his off day so Linda got send over to Katong for opening shift and I got shifted to do closing. Initially I was supposed to start at 8 and Loon start work at 9, but Loon told Winter that he'll switch timings with me because I was doing closing on Sun. So nice hahaha. Aiya but I was scheduled for closing shift in the end. Did closing with Jake. Winter told me that when she closed alone on Sat, she ended at 11 plus because she hit a big order too. Hahaha we're not fated to end early at Katong. And she told me that I was going Plaza to do closing the next day. Nervous much!

Tuesday
After the last time I almost died while working at PS on a Sun, it's a bit of a phobia going back to PS to work. Plus I was doing closing with the highest-ranking manager, Rum. Shiver me timbers. But things turned out fine after I started relaxing hahaha. In fact it was quite quiet, there wasn't any crowd like at Anson, at most a string of 5 orders. Managed to handle a string of 4/5 orders while Rum was away too. Hahaha Rum kept trying to find conversational topics because I was so uptight and serious and quiet and emotionless. :P Poor Rum, hehe sorry. But she did hit the jackpot when we started talking about the 3D latte art cats we each did for the Cappy Mushroom Soup, going all yours-is-cuter-than-mine. And after that, she covered an Iced Mocha with foam and drew a Darth Vader! Omg it was so nice. Hahaha I tried to do it using Etching on a normal latte but Rum says it looks like a pig. It did. Hahaha. Haha and Rum called me childish for carrying a water bottle and for snapping the tongs at her while I was waiting for food to be toasted. Actually I didn't do much pre-closing that day, Iffah and Rum settled everything while I was on break. Super ultra fast manz, so scary.
At the end of the day, I asked Rum how I did and she said that she actually had high expectations for me because apparently they say that I'm the best staff that Winter has at Anson. Quite honoured heh, but oh for goodness sakes I'm only 19. But still, glad to hear that my efforts are acknowledged. :)

Wednesday
Linda was at Katong again, covering for Faz, so I did closing with Loon. But I told him that I was too tired for dinner so he had dinner alone. Heh sorry bro. :P Faz's dad was going for an operation that day for his eyes and for high blood sugar levels. I think he's fine now. :)

Thursday
I was down for closing with Jake!  Confession: I raised my voice at Linda again today. She told Jake and I to go have break together, because she and Helen were leaving in 30 min and Winter was away. I told her it's okay if Jake goes for break while I handle the store front alone, and she said VERY loudly, "You don't act la! Don't try to be hero kay! You cannot handle, you don't be a hero okay!" Like wts. Someone less than 2 months into the job telling that to someone who has been working for thrice the length of time. Wts. I'm sorry, I couldn't help it, but in front of all the customers, I shouted, "I can handle it, we've done it before, even if you can't handle it, I can handle it." Rendered her speechless and smiling stupidly to herself.

Friday
I was down for closing with Winter! But Winter was busy with Ms Lim, running off to buy stuff for the new food items and then running off again to Plaza and Katong to try the new cakes and menu items. When they went grocery shopping, I was supposed to buy light bulbs for PS at 2, but it got busy and by the time I looked at my watch again, it was 3! So I got Linda to handle the change of shift while I ran out. Got back to the store at 3.30 to find another crowd and a panicking Linda, because of a major money shortage. I counted and counted, got similar results. Poor Helen only got to leave at 4, so she was late to cook dinner for her family. Then Ms Lim and Winter got back and we did damage control, then the two of them ran off again. During the time that they were away, I spent it doing damage control and handling orders and trying to counsel our 'dear' Linda (who just critisized me yesterday). Like omg no use counting and counting again, the money present wouldn't change. No use squatting on the floor and crying. I even got a cup of Chamomile tea for her, which she didn't drink. Whatever manz, no use doing nice things for someone who looks down on you. Jake stayed to cover for Winter, and then when Winter came back the two of them did the rest of stock take while I did closing. And after closing, Jake and I watched Winter change the menu. No more small size (I'm fine by that, but) no more caramel latte or anything with caramel or creamy white cocoa. Like seriously, no more caramel latte??! The number of customers that Anson will lose ain't worth it.

3/6 - 4/6
Monday
Did opening with Loon! Winter came around 7.30 while I was still struggling with the food display. I'm always slow with setting up the food cabinet in the mornings. :( Helen quit so she came today to return her uniform. :( Sad sia, she's a wonderful person, a loving wife. Morning was so quiet! But Lunch and Afternoon was okay. :) Haha we only remembered to handover shift at 5pm, so Shift 2's cash was less than $100 haha. Sales was bad overall. Sigh Linda kept asking for advice because she thinks that Ms Lim is mad at her for Fri's money issue and Helen quitting. Omg irritating much, I made a face at Winter and she immediately understood and laughed HAHAHA. ;P Oh and a new staff! Syahidah. She's a bit slow and blur like me but lacks initiative, but she should be okay in a while, she's willing to learn. :) Haha Winter got me to show her around the store and teach her B1. Loon was B2 so he guided her during operations. :) Hahaha it was quite cute watching him teach Shasha, Winter and I were quite amused. :)

Tuesday
Did opening with Loon again! Winter came before 8! Spent another day finding ways around the new menu for our regulars, even if they have to pay the price of a regular cup for the old small serving. Got to chat with one of my favourite regulars today! :) And Terrence came today to cook. Omg the place was soooo messy. Seems like Anson will be the temporary Central Kitchen. Die. Winter knew by the look on my face that I was going crazy, that the mess was irritating me. Hahaha, it was. And when it's messy AND crowded, like today, I get really stressed and uptight haha. Thank goodness Loon was around to help me keep calm haha. A bit reluctant to leave today, wouldn't see the team until Mon. :( But I'll see Faz and Winter on Sun, my two managers. ^^

CHURCH CAMP!!! :D
