It's been so long....

Since I last blogged and since I've joined this job.

Anyways, church camp was great! :D I went for all the adults sermons and I joined an adult group for BS for sermons 2 and 4. And I really did learn a lot from my adult group, with Uncle Paul Johnson's experiences in overseas communities, Uncle Alan and Auntie Judy's troubles in bringing up their 3 sons, Uncle Benjamin and Auntie Sabina's experiences in sticking to personal discipleship in the work place and Auntie Irene's encouragements for me to go further and seek greater growth in joining one of the national youth BSF groups. It's been wonderful and I daresay I've learned more than the other youths. ^^

9/6 - 15/6
Not much happened this week, it's just the absence of Jake and Loon, Jake is off on a family holiday and Loon is on a church kind-of-missionary camp, quite cool. :) Oh and on Monday, a new staff joined us! Name is Nicholas, he's on a 10-week internship in his Sec 3 year, St Andrew's Sec. He's eager to learn all right, and he gets pumped up with adrenaline when it gets busy, but he can't focus on one order at a time and he can't move and transit his focus from one drink to the next fast enough. So he would pull shots for the first drink, then rinse everything and put the porta-filter back into the bar, and then look at the next order and pull its shots.
But it's quite cool, I don't remember SN having internship opportunities at restaurants or cafes. :D
Got updated on Syahidah's progress, she picks up pretty fast!

Oh and on Friday, Winter, Linda, Shasha and I scrubbed Anson's floor! Winter and I did morning shift so around 7.30pm the two of us plus Winter's husband went to the Macs opposite for dinner while they did closing. Hahaha Kimmy Yang and her friend came to visit me but I kinda forgot to tell her that we were going for dinner. :P I was so tired out from my flu bug, I just went into my semi-conscious state (like usual) after finishing my burger. Back at the store, Winter and I started stacking the chairs onto the tables, hahaha it soon became chair sculptures because we just tangled all the legs together. xD Then Linda started scrubbing but she wasn't using strength so I tried, and the floor really turned from BLACK TO WHITE. :O But I ran out of energy after 2 wood panels hahaha so Linda and Winter took over the scrubbing, then after a while only Winter scrubbed while Linda wiped up after her and I mopped up what ever area had yet to be wiped clean. Shasha finished up closing, then she scrubbed the floor inside the store area. Hahaha I was moping hard and the mop was starting to bend, so I tried to bend it back but I used too much strength so it broke. :( Shasha's scrub broke too. :P We finished everything at exactly 11pm.

16/6 - 22/6
Well this is when things went down. Again.
Sunday
Rum quit on Sunday evening, so Winter had to go to Plaza after closing Katong, take over from Rum and then do closing at Plaza. Junhao got terminated too.
Monday
I did opening with Nicholas! But he only came at 6.50am so I had to quickly open the store and I didn't have time to teach him opening. Linda came at 7.45am so while she manned the POS, I taught Nick how to do B2 so that he could help during the rush hour. Linda wasn't clear on ordering for Baker's Heaven and all that so I did it. Winter had already helped us to order for warehouse. Then at 1.30pm, Winter messaged me to go down to Plaza at 2pm to help her! So Linda and I did handover in record speed and then I ran down to Plaza. Turns out Siew Choo asked Winter to get me to come down so that Winter would be free to plan the week's schedule. -.- But true, Winter was working full shift with a week old staff, name is Florence. And she just learned B1 and hadn't learned B2. So basically I was called over to man the bar hahaha. Ended up staying at Plaza until 7pm plus because I was talking to Winter and she had a lot of paperwork to clear up.
Tuesday
I did 8am to closing, and I did closing with Nicholas! His first time closing! But manz it was so tiring, because he didn't know how to wash plates and cups until last Monday, and he didn't know how to sweep or mop. Had to demonstrate to him how to mop lol. And I ended up doing a lot of things while he just sat there on the counter. Aiya but whatever sigh. We ended at 9.30pm and took the train home together. Winter did full shift for the third day in a row.
Wednesday
I did closing with Nicholas again! This time it was better because Linda was helping me with pre-closing while I settled the vast amount of stock for next week's crazy promotions. Managed to find space for all the boxes of beans hahaha. And Nicholas had initiative in doing pre-closing so it was okay. He left past 8.30pm while I stayed on to finish the little that was left. Oh and Auntie came back to work today!! :D And then after I finished closing, I went to Plaza to visit Winter and also pass her a Macs Frog Prince Hello Kitty figurine from Helen, it's for her daughter. ^^ And good thing that I dropped by Plaza too, because it really lifted Winter's spirits.
Thursday
I was scheduled to come at 8am and do closing with Shasha. There was supposed to be a meeting at 3 inside Anson outlet so Faz came at 2.15 and we talked. ^^ Then Winter arrived (it was her off day) and then they talked. ^^ Jackal came last, then Vivian and Siew Choo came at 3.20pm, but Vivian left within 5 min. So the meeting only had Siew Choo and the two managers and two new supervisors. Then during the meeting, Siew Choo called me out to play as a judge while the four of them role played as a cashier and a customer. Faz and Jackal acted out a typical order-taking, with Faz as the customer, while Linda and Winter acted out a case of customer complaining over a mouldy cake with Winter as the unhappy customer. I was supposed to be the critic on how the two cashiers fared. Hahaha it was a little awkward because Siew Choo was pushing for me to voice out my opinion while they four were critiquing too, and I kind of got Linda and Faz scolded for not being a good team leader. Like whut, frankly I have no idea how to train staff even though I know what is required at each of the operation stations. Anyways. I did the lobby again because the floor was dirty. And I was so so tired because my flu got worse again and my arms still ached from last Friday and I didn't have sufficient sleep. I had to keep stopping for short rests while mopping because I was getting a little giddy at the edges. Winter saw so she came over and asked me very seriously, have I been cleaning the lobby for closing. Only we know how tiring it is because only the two of us mop the floor properly. So we talked a little. Then Linda came and the conversation moved to the sofa where her husband was seated. As they talked, I just had a huge urge to cry and I couldn't hold it in after a while so.... I did. Everyone was speechless haha. Then after crying, I got up and continued mopping while Winter left. Linda stayed to help me finish with the inside like closing the cashier and changing plates. :) And then Linda, Shasha and I had a ranting session, during which Linda cried a bit here and there. Sigh talked about being at a loss on how to order food or stock, about being stressed to perform, all that. Then we went to Macs and continued ranting lol. Went home around 10pm.
Friday
Winter and Loon went back to do opening at Anson while I did 3-11.30 at Plaza. Got to see Eunice for a short while and talk to Florence and Jackal and meet AJ! Florence reminds me of me, always struggling to keep up with the pace and feeling stressed when she can't. In time my dear, in time. ;) Haha for pre-closing, basically I just did whatever Iffah told me to do hahaha. :) The new chiller came at 11pm instead of 10pm! And Jackal was struggling with the Z-Report and closing the POS so Iffah handled the inside alone while Florence and I did the lobby, so Iffah finished late. Then Jackal said he'll wait until the temperature of the chiller is correct before putting everything back in. By then it was 12am. So I sent Florence home by cab (with permission from Winter!) before traveling home. Iffah had her parent's car while Jackal was stuck in SG, unable to take a bus back to Malaysia. Sad sia. He slept in the back room and took the 5.30am bus back to Msia.
Saturday
Mid-shift at Katong! But I ended up doing until closing because I couldn't pre-close my bar early and Linda couldn't handle Katong's pre-closing.
Sunday
After lunch at EWF, Jonas, Mark and Charleston followed me to Plaza to claim my taxi fare from Winter! Hahaha just nice Winter was starting on her break so we talked for quite a while as she ate. :)

24/6, Monday
Finally met Loon! ^^ Did morning shift with Winter and him, and Auntie and Shasha and a new ex-staff Yani too! I like doing mornings with Winter. Only it wasn't busy so Winter did her paperwork while Loon and I handled operations and Shasha and Yani gave out flyers. Coffee of the Day for $1.50 and Mango Chiller for $2.50!
Then, Winter's husband called close to 6pm to check if Winter was knocking off. Then Winter pulled on my apron's strings as I walked past her, saying that he is thinking about going Aston's! Hahaha and I  had thought about it the previous night too. After all, today's the last time I'll get to work with Winter before she flies off for her trip. :((( So once again, we had an impromptu dinner together. ^^ Hahaha I was the one leading the way to Cathay at Dhoby this time. And this time, I felt more comfortable talking to Winter and her husband. :) Hahaha and during the meal, Linda called because I had left all my keys behind and Winter needed my door keys. So we headed back to Anson after dinner. Hahaha on the way back, Winter was all blur (from the beer maybe xD) and got off at Cityhall, thinking it as Raffles Place! I pulled her out from the Pasir Ris bound train because we were heading for the Joo Koon bound train. Hahaha sorry if I pulled too hard. :P Then at Anson, we sat down and talked more about Nicholas' schedule sigh.

Tomorrow, VCF FOC!!! :D
