Sunrise to Sunset
Dead | Alive
They say death
Is a long sleep
From which you never wake.
For every day we live
We rush through it ceaselessly
One thing after yet another
From place to place
From school to work
From life to death.
We only stop moving when we hit the bed.
Where we lie dead
For six hours
Or more if you're lucky
Before we continue with our lives again.
They say sunrise
Is a magical moment.
A bright circle
Smaller than a 10 cent coin
Captures our attention
Causes us to stop moving.
And as the sun rises
Our souls awaken
And we realise
For one more day,
We are yet alive

Shu Anne brought me to the sunset place today. The sky was cloudy, but the result was a scarlet red sunset. From our perspective, the sun is so small that for all its brilliance, it doesn't exactly humble us. Yet when we stare at the stars in the night sky, it humbles us and makes us realise how small we truly are.
